COVID-19 Exposure Control Plan

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made a number of important changes to our clinic following the recommendations of the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, BC Center for Disease Control, the PHO and WorkSafe BC to protect the well being and safety of our team members, patients, and the community we serve.

We have implemented the following measures to meet and exceed the current guidelines:

1. Patients and Guardians will be required to complete a health screening questionnaire prior to every appointment and responses confirmed at the beginning of their appointment. A link to this questionnaire will be sent via email and text before the scheduled appointment.

2. Requirement for use of masks or face coverings upon entering the clinic.

3. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer (min 70%) for patient/staff use is required upon entry. Also available at multiple locations throughout our office.

4. Checking in from parking lot via text to 1-778-484-5432 to let staff know you have arrived. We will let you know when it is appropriate to come in. This minimizes patients in the waiting room.

5. We will take temperatures for everyone who comes into the clinic. If anyone presents with symptoms and/or a fever, they will directed to leave the premises and referred for appropriate care.

6. Family members without an appointment will not be permitted in the clinic when possible. Only one accompanying parent per child with an appointment.

7. Appointment times will be managed (staggered, less patients will be seen per day, etc.) to allow for adequate social distancing between patients and increased cleaning requirements.

8. Re-arranged waiting room/office to allow for 2 meter physical distancing.

9. We have modified the clinical layout to allow for each dental chair to have its own closed door operatory.

10. Each clinical area will have a HEPA air purifier to allow for increased air circulation and cleaning.

11. Daily staff screening to be completed by all staff personnel. Any staff that may experience flu/cold like symptoms or generally felling unwell will not be allowed to work.

12. Proper hand hygiene practiced before and after each patient.

13. All dental personnel will wear appropriate level of personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, gloves, level 2 or 3 masks, and face shields depending on procedure.

14. Plexi-glass partitions to separate patients from reception staff with appropriately placed “stand here” squares for correct positioning.

16. Removal of all un-necessary/difficult to clean items from waiting/treatment rooms including toys/pillows/play structure.

We want to thank all of our families for having patience with us as navigate through these new policies and we truly appreciate your support and we endeavor to take care of your dental needs in a safe manner during these uncertain times.
